AJ Hackett – Kawarau Bridge Bungy
From $320
This is where the bungy phenomenon originated, earning the title of the ‘World Home of Bungy’. Perched on a cliff face above the Kawarau Gorge, the Bungy Centre offers an intimate encounter with the bungy experience, whether you’re taking the leap or simply spectating. Witness every jump and zipride while indulging in a meal or a refreshing drink. And if you’re feeling adventurous, muster up the courage to take the plunge or soar through the air on a zipride yourself.
We know you’re itching to get going, but there are a couple of things we need you to know first.
WATER TOUCH
So you’re keen to touch the water? Water touch is possible at Kawarau Bridge Bungy, however it’s not guaranteed because of factors beyond our control (like the river level).
When you check-in for your activity, let your jump master know you’d like a water touch and they’ll see what they can do.
AGE
Minimum 10 years old. Children 14 and under require an adult to sign consent at check-in.

Safety is paramount to everything we do. With over 35 years of experience in the industry, we know what we’re doing, and we have thorough procedures in place to ensure your well-being.
SAFETY FIRST
The safety, security and enjoyment of our customers is our absolute number one priority. We’ve been in the business since 1988, and our safety procedures have always been fundamental to every aspect of what we do. Our equipment and procedures are continually assessed, and done in accordance with national and international industry standards.
SAFETY PROCESSES & PROCEDURES
We’re quite the pioneers when it comes to Bungy Jumping. So, after we opened, we quickly recognised the need for a written set of rules for commercial operations. We instigated the Code of Practice in 1990. This was written with the help of a variety of industry partners from the adventure, construction and tourism sectors. It’s now an industry standard for Australia and New Zealand, and used as a guideline throughout the world.
MEDICAL CONSIDERATIONS
Before you Jump, Swing or Zipride, make sure you’re well rested, hydrated and have recently eaten.
Tell your Bungy Crew if you have high or low blood pressure, heart conditions, epilepsy, high myopia, broken or fractured bones/dislocations, fragile skin, neurological disorders, diabetes, asthma, prosthetics, panic/anxiety attacks or any recent sprains/muscular injuries.Unfortunately, we can’t permit pregnant activity-seekers, or those with photosensitive epilepsy. And if you have osteoporosis, scoliosis or a recent concussion, we’ll need to see a doctor’s certificate.
Wear glasses? For safety reasons, they may not be able to be worn. However, prescription safety glasses are available, free of charge.
EQUIPMENT
We take your safety very seriously – in fact there’s nothing else more important to us, and we use only the latest technologies and safety equipment designed by experienced teams and experts to exacting standards.
All our equipment is subject to rigorous internal regulatory controls and our quality assurance system determines that all equipment is fit for use at all times.
We never compromise on safety – ever!
