Coronet Peak
Information Page
Coronet Peak reigns supreme as the heart and soul of Queenstown, standing tall and proud, embodying the vibrant energy of the bustling town nestled below.
Ask any local, and they’ll proudly proclaim Coronet Peak as their mountain. It’s not just its proximity to town that makes it special; it’s ingrained in the fabric of the community. For generations, families have embraced the slopes here, forging unforgettable moments and treasured memories.
The legacy began in 1947 when Coronet Peak emerged as New Zealand’s inaugural commercial ski field, transforming from farmland to a winter wonderland at the first hint of snow. Since then, it has been at the forefront of innovation, introducing the first rope ski tow, boasting the largest snowmaking system in the southern hemisphere, and hosting New Zealand’s lengthiest ski day with the exhilarating First Tracks and Night Ski sessions.
Coronet Peak is a playground for performance, offering roller coaster terrain, expansive runs, and adrenaline-pumping vertical drops. It’s no wonder elite athletes like alpine ski racer Alice Robinson choose it as their training ground. Locals kick-start their day with fresh corduroy on First Tracks, followed by a steaming cup of coffee before heading to work. Those seeking a leisurely pace can indulge in a mouthwatering pizza at Heidi’s Hut or bask in panoramic views from the Ice Bar.
As dusk descends, Coronet Peak transforms into an après ski paradise with Night Skiing. Thrill-seekers carve up the slopes under the dazzling floodlights, while others unwind on the deck with a warming mulled wine, serenaded by lively tunes.
The adventures at Coronet Peak extend beyond winter, offering year-round excitement. During the summer months, visitors can revel in scenic alpine gondola rides and panoramic vistas atop the mountain, or tackle world-class downhill and cross-country mountain bike trails.
People flock to Coronet Peak to push their limits while immersing themselves in the adrenaline-fueled atmosphere of the Adventure Capital of the World – Queenstown. Come join in on the fun and experience the thrill of the good times that await.
