This is arguably Queenstown’s most unique water activity. One of the few places in the world where you can “ride a shark”
Reaching speeds of 80 kph on the water and 40 kph diving under the water, experience a one-on-one ride with your friendly and experienced pilots in this semi-submersible shark.
You will be inside what feels like a cross between a fighter jet and a torpedo. It’s skimming across the top of the lake at 80kph and before you know it, your pilot dives underwater and then points the shark at the sky which causes you to jump high out of the water.
Hydro Attack is the world’s first commercial operator of these unique semi-submersible machines so while you’re in Queenstown don’t miss your chance to have a go.

RESTRICTIONS
Minimum age to ride in the shark is 6 years old. Rides in the shark are subject to a weight restriction of 110kg (242 pounds/17 stone) and height restriction of 192cm (6ft 3′). Hydro Attack reserve the right to cancel any trip if the passenger safety is at risk due to the customer exceeding the weight or height restrictions. Check-in at the lakefront kiosk (by Patagonia Chocolates on Earnslaw Park) 10 MINUTES before your trip departure time.

The safety of our passengers and their property is important to us and by purchasing a shark ride or spectator spot with Hydro Attack and boarding our vessels:
Passengers agree that they are carried at their own risk and Hydro Attack will not be liable in any way for any injury incurred as a result of being carried. Passengers should be aware that in New Zealand any claims for personal injury are limited by a government scheme and passengers should obtain their own insurance should they wish to do so.
Please advise a member of our staff if you have a physical condition that may affect the enjoyment of the ride with us or your safety.
We suggest that passengers do not take any personal property or equipment in the sharks, however if passengers choose to do so then this property or equipment is carried at the PASSENGER’S OWN RISK and Hydro Attack will not be liable in any way for any loss to such property or equipment however caused.
For the safety and comfort of all passengers all instructions given by the pilot must be followed and parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring that their children do the same.
CANCELLATION OR REFUNDS
We require 24 hours notice for cancellation before the booking departure time to get a full refund, after that a portion of the cost is retained.
Our Boat Trip and Shark Ride product requires minimum numbers to operate. If the trip is cancelled due to minimum numbers customers will be given the option to reschedule or receive a full refund.
Trips are weather dependent – Hydro Attack’s operation can be affected by high swell on the lake, heavy rain or stormy conditions and Hydro Attack reserves the right to modify trip times and cancel trips at our sole discretion. A full refund can be given for trips cancelled by weather when the cancellation is verified by Hydro Attack.
Hydro Attack Gift Cards are valid for 1 year after the date of purchase. Extension of validity beyond the gift card expiry date is at Hydro Attack’s sole discretion.

Absolutely, we understand that paying off a big trip in one go isn’t always that easy. We offer flexible payment plans to suit all types of travellers with zero interest or fee’s (minimum $100NZD deposit required).
We endorse the recommendation that all travellers take out travel insurance. If you already have Travel Insurance please understand that it is your responsibility to ensure that your Travel Insurance covers you for all of the adventure style travel you have booked with us.
