Stretching 16km inland from the Tasman Sea, Milford Sound captivates with its sheer granite cliffs soaring up to a staggering 1700m above sea level. This fiord, like its counterparts in Fiordland National Park, bears the marks of five distinct glacier actions that shaped its grandeur during the last ice age, spanning from 75,000 to 14,000 years ago.
Photograph and gaze upon the glaciers. Their large blue cracking ice-falls creating a colourful contrast against the lush rainforests below. Witness a living collection of ancient geological transformations as you navigate the pristine waters of Milford Sound.
Milford Sound boasts an annual rainfall between seven and eight meters, earning its reputation as the wettest place in New Zealand. Enveloped in this constant embrace of moisture, the rainforests cling to the towering cliff faces, creating a vibrant tapestry of greenery. Meanwhile, the aquatic realm below teems with life, with seals basking in the sun, occasional dolphins gracing the waters, and the elusive penguin making a cute appearance.

On this trip you will be soaring across three mountain ranges, magnificent alpine valleys, lakes and glaciers into Fiordland National Park. When the plane arrives in Milford Sound you will find yourself flying in between the massive fiord mountains with waterfalls cascading down into the ocean.
Your pilot will then escort you to the boat terminal to join the cruise boat partners, Pure Milford, on the Gem of the Sound to enjoy a 2 hour cruise of the fiord.
Your boat journey will take you out to the Tasman Sea where you’ll encounter some of the wildlife that makes up this region, while your skipper provides you with a detailed and entertaining commentary of the region and its history.
Depending on the season, there are usually two trips during fall/winter and three trips during spring/summer, but often add a fourth tour, depending on demand.

Cancellations by the operator due to weather will be fully refunded.
If your travel plans change or you are unable to fly with us as planned, please contact us promptly and let us know.
Cancellations made within 24 hours prior to your reserved flight incur a 50% cancellation fee and in the case of a “no show” we will charge you the full cost of the flight. True South Flights reserves the right to apply discretion in exceptional circumstances.
Make sure to check in at the location specified in your confirmation at least 15 minutes before the tour begins.
Cancellations & Refunds
If your service provider cancels the tour or activity you have booked, then you are entitled to a full refund.
Happy Travels New Zealand does not refund in cash and can only refund back onto your Visa, Mastercard or American Express.
Fees paid to Happy Travels for credit card fees, deposits, bus tickets and luggage storage are non-refundable or transferable.
If you decide to cancel your activities or accommodation for any reason, a 50% Cancellation Fee will be applied. In addition to Happy Travels Cancellation Fee, you may also be liable for any cancellation fees charged by the service provider as per their own terms and conditions. It is therefore possible your cancellation fees could be up to 100% of the cost of the booking (for example cancellations made within 24hrs of travel).

Trips with booked dates: It is your responsibility to ensure the dates on vouchers are correct and correspond to your own itinerary, including any transport tickets, campervans & bed nights. Please double-check that the pick-up locations for your selected tours are correct. The times printed on your tickets are generally the departure times of the tours you have booked, arrive 15 minutes prior to the time stated on your voucher to ensure you are on time. If you are late for a tour, the tour operator reserves the right to mark you as a no- show and charge a 100% cancellation fee.
All bookings must be reconfirmed 48 hours in advance by contacting your tour provider directly using the contact information listed on your tour voucher.

Yes, we do have open dated/flexible tickets available. Most tour vouchers are valid for 12 months from date of purchase, however please be aware that you may be subject to supplier price fluctuations. All ticket validity is specified on the tour voucher. If you are unsure of the validity of your voucher, just ask one of our wonderful staff.
